Must... have... Riddlefic @ 10:47 am

I am finally getting some of my Riddle-Pevensie story out of my head and into a file. My beta (and dear friend) gave it a bit of a raking over the coals, but I appreciated the honesty. Writing Narnian anything makes me nervous, even though I RP'd Susan Pevensie, and played her well, for a year and some change. The Tom parts are easy.

Speaking of whom, damn it, I miss [info]mctabby's Dark Lord News. I looked forward to my Riddlefic-fix, and I miss it madly. Anyone read any good Riddlefic lately? I friended [info]potter_prophet over here, but it rarely has stories I want to read. I'm just not so much into the Harry pr Severus ships, sadly. Unless, possibly, they are with Tom. I'll at least give them a go. :-P

Sigh. I am sad. It's not like I don't write and RP my own TMR as often as possible. It's a sickness, I tells ya.

ETA: Ooooh, I found [info]team_darklord!!! Huzzah!

I'm very frustrated tonight. Cat's sick, husband's stressed, and I can't write. I'd like to thread, but I don't have time now. I did actually get some nice, quality RP in this weekend. But tonight I am frustrated. And I don't want to go to work tomorrow. Blech.

I'm so envious of writers, right now. I have ideas, but I can't get them down from my addled brain.

What original stuff I'd like to write:
The Noe Venable song story - Katie, on the run, near future, aliens just invading, befriending the soldier she sits with and then falling in love.
Prula and Costa's story - love triangle but not, post-apocalyptic or diminished society gone pastoral, what's the point though? Have to figure that one out.

It's good just to write down these notes, because it's the first little step to actually writing the stories.

What fanfic I'd like to write:
The Pevensie children-Tom Riddle crossover. Oh, this one is outlined, parts of it are written, and I want it to happen so badly.

Lamia+Voldemort=OTP @ 09:23 pm

Stardust was absolutely fantastic. I really enjoyed it.

However, as I watched it, a very silly thought came to mind. I would LOVE to see some absurd, universe-ignoring fic in which Lamia (in all her last-bite-o-star glory) and Voldemort had a night on the town.

I mean, come on. Those two with their green flashing magic, their penchant for shattering glass, and their pursuit of evil? They'd be adorable!

I'm a very strange person.

Not cross-posted anywhere! Just here.

Since this is my fic-centric, Tom-Voldemort focused webspace, I thought I'd write a wee bit about my, er, fascination with Mr. Riddle.

See, I can't remember when I first started being so interested. I am thinking it had to be after CoS came out and he was played in such a tall, dark, and handsome way by Christian Coulson. It was also about when I worked out that Minerva and he had to have been at Hogwarts at the same time.

In December 2002, I was driving across the great state of OK on my way to family for Christmas, and the plot for Strange and Wondrous, my loooong (31,419 word) Tom/Minerva story was born.

I think what attracted me most in those giddy pre-HBP days was the wondering about Tom. What was his childhood like in that orphanage? Did he hope for a mother and father and was denied? What could have been, and could anything have changed his course as a young man?

In July of 2004, I saw a notice for a pan-fandom RPG on LJ called Milliways on my one of my Good Omens comms. There would be a Crowley and an Aziraphale (and I had just begun writing my GO fic, The Greatest of These), so I was intrigued. I signed up to watch and then was asked by a mod to jump on in! I thought of a character I liked and had written before.

Hermione was already taken, but Tom Riddle? Well, I'd just written 30,000+ words about him (I finished the story finally in January 2004)!Plus, I thought he and Crowley might get on really well, in a lovely villainous (and maybe even a slashy!)way. So I apped him, with the intent on dabbling a bit with some evil plots and the like. But then Tom met Door from Neverwhere, and, well, I got to work on a redemption arc, instead. I've enjoyed this so much, even though when HPB came out, I spent most of it going... WTF??? WAH! I WAS SO WRONG!

Turns out my Tom was the soul from a broken Horcrux incarnate and given a second chance, so it all worked out fine. And he gets on with Crowley right well indeed!

But anyway, canon Tom, even with his cliched evil-from-birth background, still fascinates me. I am not quite able to write a true sociopath/psychopath, but I try my best, and I still always enjoy exploring the "what if" for our Mr. Riddle.

Okay.

I has journal. It does not have five years of entries in it, but that's okay.

I think I am going to make this primarily a writing journal, with a little bit of extra-added HP Tom-centric insight. Likely I'll be cross-posting from my LJ account, but yeah.

It can be my Riddlefic journal of happy creepiness.
